Hybrid Solar System is the term that referes to systems that use both the suns clean power and the municipal (grid) power to operate. Batteries are charged using either the suns clean power or the grid, then batteries supply the load (household) with power in the case of loadshedding (zero-grid power).
Off-grid solar system is the term that referes to systems that do not require municipal (grid) power to operate. Source of the power comes from batteries, where batteries are charged by Solar pannels or a generator. They do not need the grip to operate.
Grid-tied solar systems require municipal (grid) power to operate. Source of the power comes solar pannels, the grid (municipality) and from batteries. The systems may or may not have batteries attatched to them, operating with solar pannels directly as they harness the suns clean energy and convert it directly into usable power.
